Published between 1906 and 1930, Molla Nasreddin was a satirical Azeri periodical edited by Jalil Mammadguluzadeh (1866–1932), and named after the legendary Sufi wise man-cum-fool of the Middle Ages. Thanks to its prominent use of caricatures, the weekly was arguably one of the most important 20th century periodicals of the Muslim world, read from Morocco to India.
